Missing Something R10....

Today I demoed an R10. It is heavier than I thought. They tout their ability to shoot points with the pole tilted and have compensators that correct it to vertical. But they are missing the boat. The tilt thing won't work on stakeout. Tilted stakeout where a person simply watches the unit to get near the stakeout point would be a killer app. I am positive it would save a lot of time. Imagine doing stakeout without having to level up to see where to move.

Missing Something RTK in General

Having a unit on the pole is a poor design in my opinion. Anyone doing RTK topo work all day will be carrying a pretty good load with one arm. Why not make a simple bluetooth antenna that transmits to a small unit clipped on your belt or in your pocket, and have a very lightweight dumb terminal on the pole. Leica had the best idea with the 530s, with light dumb terminal on a pole, very light antenna, and the unit in backpack. Now that the units are so small, why not make the leap like Leica did, except with bluetooth and light units, and get rid of anvils on poles with NO WIRES.

+1 on the stakeout compensated point. This is much more time consuming than the 0.5 sec it takes to level up prior to a topo point.

Yes it is an important matter in field work to hold a pole for 5 or 6 hours.
Leica viva GS10 has BT connection to CS10 OR CS15 controller and you can put the GS10 on backpack but you have to connect Rx to ANTENNA with a cable.
If the antenna could connect the RX trough BT it will be best working receiver.
A small antenna and a controller on a pole and the receiver on the backpack that simply could be carried in the field for topo or stakeout survey.
