Does anyone have a standard for laying out a softball field? (Distances and angles) All I will need is the placement of the bases, home plate and pitching mound.

The league that plays there, or the umps that umpire there should have standards to follow so that records can be set accorging to their rules.

Be careful to NOT use standards that don't apply to the particular association.

Google is your friend

As you can see in the diagram, it depends on what your association uses.

Check with them first, before you go driving any stakes

edit----dang it! slim beat me to it!;-)

Not quite what I'd call a clear and unambiguous spec.

A good reference is Ramsey & Sleeper - Architectural Graphic Standards.

There are diagrams as well as specific notations of what other possible items that would need to be investigated in order to do a final design.

How about this diagram. I think the bases are the same no matter what league you are in the only difference it the distance between the mound and home plate.

It was intended as a starting point, and as others have stated you should check with the local administering association.

Stacy,

I realize I'm late to this "ballgame", but I was curious if you have Land Desktop? If so, under the Layout menu, you can insert all kinds of sports fields, tracks, etc. as CAD entities as shown below. If you still need them, email me and I'll email you a CAD file with them.

What, no curling?

A while back someone on one of the forums described a chain made especially for laying out a curling court.
