Maybe its local custom, but whats up with the 1.07' offset line? Is there something in the way, such as a building, so you can't set the actual corner?

It just matches the found lead/nail and makes it easier for the next guy following along Del Mar not having to deal with o/s going back and forth. He has a straight line to work from. The points are landing in a concrete walk, except for the one in the alley.

Why did you have all the notes on the lead and tags in San Marino Ave? It looks like you pulled some of the tags? It seems like that wasn't needed when the lot you were surveying was on another street. Not trying to be crtical, I'm just trying to learn here.

You're right Paul.

It took me awhile to find the two projects that we did for an engineer in 2001 & 2003 for the City of San Gabriel Millimum Miles program. Design surveys for pavement rehabilitation and Corner Records. Nice jobs!

Very kind of you to think of me!!

Hehe..no, I do not pull tags. Maybe I should change that note to "tags have been pulled out"

Well..the establishment of San Marino was very important and finding those tags helped immensly for the alley establishment east of San Marino. The old 1887 subdivision has math errors in it and the right of ways have been jumping around.

Here is a pic of the old 1887 map. Run a few calcs using the map and you will see what I mean.

1887 map

Tax Map

The tax map shows better dimensions for the lots.

I am glad this was brought up. I changed that note to clarify that I did not pull any tags.

If you will note Paul is prorating distances. To validate that choice you go outside your block to show that the street right of ways are whole as a minimum.

Nice job Paul.

That makes sense Paul. For some reason, I read the note like you didn't like it so you pulled the tag. I suppose traffic just messed them up. I understand the reason behind locating the points to help you on your survey. I'm also guessing this wasn't a simple survey. How many hours did you have on it? Is it a busy area in terms of traffic? I think it would be a bitch to get the points in the roadway shot if there was a lot of traffic. There are rural roads around here I can work and only see 10 cars go by all day.

15.5 field and the traffic was not that bad most of the day. I did not show everything on the RS that I located. There are some walls and fences along the alley that runs N/S and a wall line on Del mar and the E/W alley that I located to see how my boundry would fit them. The buildings were the main thing though, and both of those are shown. One building on Del mar was used to establish the sideline bearing of the lot line, which matched my prorated position and record dimension for that lot very well.

It always amazes me how occupation can tell such a good story on how an area was initially surveyed in.

Hey Paul. Looks great. One thing I noticed is there's no descriptions of the ties at Clary and San Marino.

Those 3 ties are called out in the line table Ryan.

Plat looks good Paul, the only thing I might suggest it to put Note "A" and "B" both at the bottom your plat. It took me 10 minutes to find Note "B"

From what I can tell, Paul seems to have no "simple" lot surveys.

I did not notice any curblines in the right of way adjoining the lot, nor any note about improvements or the lack therof. Aren't they required?

Look at the alley approach on the right

> Aren't they required?

Not on an RS unless those improvements are used to establish R/W lines
