Is it possible that it is there specifically to set the point of a leg in/on. I think that I have seen that done before.

Good call dmy! Just shows how much concrete I did not uncover; I would bet you are correct.
Actually I do. Our survey record is not approved yet. A bit of an embarassment. This was a slip through the cracks, your post actually got me to look into it yesterday. There is a bit of field work with the Dependent Resurvey in the Group, that had gotten shelved after the majority done in 1995-1996, and my predacessors had not tracked that the project was outstanding. I have directed staff to get this done, we will have the record done this year after the field work gets cleaned up and final survey records documents reviewed.
BTW, dmy is correct. We have a big story board with photos and descriptions about the remonumentation, there was a huge amount of concrete hand hauled and mixed on site. There were PVC pipes put in concrete for tripod leg points.

I feel better knowing that. Thanks.

Alaska took 11 weeks to the day to notify of results, but it was worth my wait. I really did not want to retake that exam.
I got to the Seward Meridian, had a beautiful excursion on Saturday and passed the exam. The perfect trip!
