I like how now that Trimble bought Seco I can't seem to order any of the Seco stuff I want and get it in a timely fashion. Thanks Trimble!

Don't feel bad. I work for a Trimble/Seco dealer and we have a hard time getting Seco stuff. We ended up having to go to Trimble and buy Trimble branded prism poles, bi-pods, fixed height and TriMax tripods. We definitely feel your pain!
There was a materials shortage earlier in the year that put Seco in a bind and they could not fulfill any of their orders on time.

Sent crew to supplier to pick up a special SECO reflector set up.-----Not in stock----7 to 10 days. Just what I want to tell my client. He normally has most in stock.

I am being told that Seco is moving all their manufacturing to Mexico. All Secoƒ??s sewn products are already made in Mexico now their entire product line will be ƒ??Made in Mexicoƒ?. Great. That is why all of their products are on indefinite backorder.

Yea Trimble bought them and closed the manufacturing facility. At least that's what I heard. I mean obviously they were doing something wrong if they needed to sell the company to Trimble, but that has to be a lot of jobs lost.

Now they will be run like the rest of the Trimble company. They'll probably change the hardware on the prism poles every two years and then "not support" the old ones so you'll have to buy all new stuff....

This is disappointing to hear. I remember touring SECO while getting my surveying degree at OIT many years ago.

Seco held patents on products, they did not make them.
They contracted with many facilities that were setup to make the products and to provide others to sell under their name.

The SECO Manufacturing Company certainly did manufacture many of their products.
I have no doubt as they grew, they farmed out the manufacturing of new products.
The sewing was imported from Mexico.
I read that in 1999 20% of their revenue came from imports, 80% from their Redding Ca. manufacturing facility.
