I've seen a Topcon Robot in a fish tank before. All functions working.

I remember?ÿ@paden-cash telling a story about some feller from the PNW came down and was surveying in OK. He's brag about how they ALWAYS worked in the rain and OKIES were a bunch pu$$ies for boxing it up every time 4 rain drops fell inside a square inch. Well, one day an Oklahoma Gully Washer comes down and drenches this guy and his gear in about 10 minutes...

That seemed to shut him up!

Like everyone has said; your biggest concern is getting ALL of your gear dried out over night. I've even heard people say that they kept 2 sets of gear, using them on alternate days when it was really raining every day.

Good luck!

Dougie

It was about 1980 and the fella's name was Keith Sarvela.?ÿ I think he went back up to the great Northwest.?ÿ If anybody's heard of him, I'd like to know if he's still kickin'.

A quick Google says he's 71 and lives here in Puyallup!?ÿ

I will see what else I can find out and report back...

@dougie

..by golly that looks just like the old goat!

He and I?ÿhad some rough edges between us back in the day.?ÿ Between me, my Irish temper and him being a dick we didn't get along so well.?ÿ Some bad things happened to him that weren't his?ÿfault?ÿand he went back west.?ÿ I?ÿmight contact him if I was sure he wouldn't hang up on me. 😉

Never had much of a problem working in rain with my Leica 1200.

You will have to repeat shots with reflectorless sometimes; that's to be expected, and proportional to the density of rain. Yup, wipe the glass as often as needed.

Take 2 shots; they're cheap at the time. Watch the distances to make sure they match.

And above all, bring the wet equipment inside to dry. Not just the gun, but legs and everything else. You be glad you did.
