Unfortunately, it's NEVER safe to be working in a roadway, or on a shoulder unless you are behind solid concrete barriers.

They can't put barriers everywhere, so we've all got to be careful (not saying this man wasn't) and stay alert.

No project is worth your life.

Heck, even the barriers are not 100 percent safe. Remember the post that Roadhand made on the old POB site that showed a tractor trailer crossing over the concrete center wall. That was downright scary for anyone who works construction.

Very sad.

Out of nowhere last week they bought a car that had been rolled, from a junkyard, and put it on a flat bed semi trailer and posted it up next to the highway on our project. They put an 8' x 25' sign on it with a little girl wearing a hard hat and safety glasses that said "Please dont text and drive, my Daddy works here". Its only been there a couple of days so time will tell if it helps. It is very attention getting though. A first class act by a first class outfit.

🙁 This breaks my heart. 🙁 I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and heartbreak his family & loved ones are going through right now. I'd be a freaking basket case.

Maybe we could set up a memorial/tribute thread for him & send the family something?? Does anyone know him or his family? Ideas? Comments? Criticism?
