(Sitting here just got in got my mouth semi-loaded with a Greek salad.)

ring ring.
(notice local number construction co. ID)

Me: Hello (company name)

He: Is this the survey guy?

He: Yes, what can I do for you today..

He: I need for you to come out to HWY 190 and show me where the property lines are located but I do not need to have a survey done. Just show me where the property line is located. It is 2 lots.

(HWY 190 is usually highest price commercial in the area )

Me:(Greek salad tasting VG)
I am not interested. Even if I don't issue a plat. I must survey the property. When someone calls a survey company, I would think that they need survey performed.

He: OK

Me: (smack of lips from a kalamata olive and hang up)

should have told him you have some bare land that you have plans for a road and house on it, but don't need any construction performed, would he be interested.

It's the same all over. Latest, "my neighbor has put a deer stand on my land"...
"How do you know that?"..."My husband saw it...and I need you to mark my 'back' line."

Back line 1000' long. 15 acres+-. "Can't do that without surveying all the property"

"Let me get back to you"

Go for another walk in the woods behind the house and admire what is left of mother nature.

I would have quoted them a price high enough to properly survey the property but let them think you were just marking the lines like they asked. If they agreed, which I have some doubts they would without an explanation, do the field work, and send them a plat of a boundary survey that shows only the features related to it. Most people are ignorant about what we do, and there are too few requests for surveys these days to justify insulting callers.

Sadly, you can quote them enough to do what they think they want but do the whole job. But they ain't stupid on costs. Just ignorant. :-O They want you to do the work for $100 or so. :bad: Which isn't just possible. It is just better to be honest. I rather get the job for what it is worth and not waste my time and energy on a cheap survey. I got lots of other things to do than work for free or cheap.|-)
