Should prove well worthwhile before more time passes and the cadastral evidence becomes more scattered.

There's something immensely satisfying about turning up an original monument like this.

I was actually helping a friend set up a record of survey. We found several existing monuments, enough to establish the deeds lines. But there was one boundary that was in dispute between two owners. The original survey set a redwood post in the 30's (not 100's of years ago, but in California that is old). I had calculated where I thought it should be. We went out and dug a hole in that spot and at about 1.5 feet deep, we found the remains of a rotting, but recognizable, redwood post. And it is under a tenth off of my calculated position.

A good feeling indeed.
