Anyone running the new Geomax robots care to share experience?
I have a CR5+,?ÿ no complaints at all.
Thanks!
I run a Zoom90 (a zoom95 with slower processor and smaller screen) with XPAD, Lecia performance at half cost, only reason to still buy Leica is you are a super large firm where training multiple teams is an issue. My bias is Lecia robots over Trimble robots though.
?ÿ
I've not run it with survPC/CE but XPAD is much nicer software to use. It's not quite as fully featured as Lecia captive or Trimble access if you want the absolute best, but as I was buying out of my pocket is more than adequate for boundary/topo/setout work I do.
Thanks for the input.?ÿ I've run the Leica TS12 and TS16, but no experience with anything else.
@lukenz?ÿ
I would buy geomax based on my experience with the Leica 1203+ and then using a new Trimble s5. I now feel like the Leica/geomax robots are the best designed hardware out there.?ÿ
@learner?ÿ
The biggest question though is who is your dealer and is their support good or not cause that is very nearly the most important thing.
My experience isn't so recent:?ÿ a late-2015 Zoom 80 (2" version) paired with a Carlson Surveyor+ running SurvCE v5, but it's been very good.?ÿ I moved from a Leica TCRA1102plus and found the GeoMax to be every bit as accurate, capable and reliable.?ÿ I would definitely buy GeoMax again.
@learner I have six crews, 4 with TS 12s and two with TS 16s, in addition to three Leica RTK packages running on Smart Net.?ÿ All the IM people are cross trained to run everything and the Chiefs are well versed.?ÿ That works out well for me as if one crew has an issue, they can call another Chief and resolve the issue, if not, my Leica reps are outstanding and provide the needed support within hours.
Thanks for the feedback, all!?ÿ I'm thinking a Geomax will be my next robot....
@learner We have 2 Geomax zoom 90s for over 5 years and we run them with Carlson's SurvCE. After researching a lot about the Trimble S series robots (350rocketmike's posts were really helpful) I?ÿ decided that our next robots will be either Leica(with a geocom licence) or Geomax. You can buy a 1" Geomax at a very reasonable price and get the same results you'd get with a 1" Leica.

Didn't Leica discontinue selling GeoCom licenses?
@jim-frame I don't really know. What I know is that I want to use SurvCE/PC with it and I wouldn't mind paying for a license that allows me to use the software I'm used to.

I suggest you check with your Leica dealer to see if that's possible.?ÿ I'm under the impression that Leica decided that it didn't want to allow its instruments to work with third-party data collectors, but then my information is strictly anecdotal.
@jim-frame I just checked the hardware list published by Carlson for SurvPC and they cover?ÿ current Leica models like the TS16, so I?ÿ assume Leica still has a way that allows 3rd party software to run their equipment.
