Are any of you who are doing drone work using Autodesk's Recap to do it? If so, how well is it working??ÿ

It works fine but there's not always a need to get the point cloud from the aerials into Autodesk. We use Recap to get terrestrial LIDAR into Plant 3D.

It helps that TBC and Realworks both export directly to RCP.

I don't do drone work but I recommend it to clients for viewing point clouds and taking measurements as it is free and they can import the same .rcp file directly into Autocad. They can also download it themselves directly from the Autodesk website. It works well for this.

It is 2 years since I tried the registering features. I didn't like them but it may have improved since then.

Is it free? I'm gathering that there is some functionality in a trial? version but the full featured version is $305/year. But I'm not clear on this..?ÿ

The free version doesn't allow for registering but you can view, measure, index for Autocad and switch between viewing modes. I find it quite useful as a viewer and recommend it to clients who don't need Cyclone etc.

If you download the trial from the website you get the professional version for 30 days and then it defaults to the free mode after that.

I use Recap Pro to take our Leica e57 files and import the rcp files directly in C3D. Works great.
