@350rocketmike Yes I test drove dodge and ford Diesel engines and started reading up on all the def and turbos and such. I said man i just need a truck that will work. Called my cousin who is a diesel mechanic and asked his opinion. He asked my expected max tow weight and distance and what all i would be doing. I told him and he said get the new ford 7.3 with 4:30 rear. ?ÿI did and itƒ??s been great so far. The dodge and ford diesel would do it all better but i turn wrenches but i knew i would have a learning curve if something happened. I do most all my own work maintenance myself. I use it as a chance to have the girls help. My 8 year old loves building and helping daddy change the oil. ?ÿShe gets right in the gravel driveway and crawls under the truck with me. I get the plug loose enough for her she does the rest. Usually she plays in the burnt oil makes a mess. But we have fun. I have an old 1978 f350 flatbed 4 speed. We are going to rebuild engine together but we are waiting a year or two so she builds up a little more upper body strength. And i get through these last exams. It runs fine around the farm. But needs some tlc. And a new wiring harness. ?ÿOld old wires. Might even put a crate 7.3 gas in instead. ?ÿBut the old 351m does a good job. I had to hide the key because when she was 5 she could crank it and no safety switch so it would crank in gear. ?ÿWas out cleaning up after a tornado and she cranked it and headed across the pasture. Scared the heck out of me. ?ÿLuckily it was in first gear. So I always pulled it up to a tree so if she did crank it she would go no place. She has no fear.
