If it was set by the original surveyor then it is an original monument IMO. The art of identifying is another matter. One company farts pincushions all over my county and justifies it with notes on the plat that says "I'm not positive I can identify it so it gets pincushioned". Basic reason would lead most of us to conclude that a monument can't be explained other than its original, but not Mr. Pincushion, in fact I would argue that the average pin cushion is outside the standard
