@mightymoe Why would aluminum caps fall off is they have a plastic insert to give them a friction fit? Plastic may decay?ÿif they are left exposed to air/sun.?ÿ I had the pleasure of surveying a road 20 years after it was relocated. Original capped pins were found along the right-of-way.?ÿ Capped pins that were right at ground level had minor cracking of the cap. A capped pin that was an inch below dirt looked nearly new with no decay. Exposure to air and sun is the problem.?ÿ It'll be better to recommend property owners put a plastic post by pins than to leave pins sticking up above ground.
