@andy-j

did you ask AI to generate quotes in the style of Jordan Peterson??ÿ ?ÿThat word salad is spot on!

?ÿ

100%. Let's not forget that a substantial portion of his wealth is derived from his cult of personality and incendiary comments rather than any actual work in his field, most of which was published 20 years ago.

Taking absurd stances based on misinterpreting controversial issues outside his area of expertise is the exact opposite of smart.

Here's an example:

I'm not a structural engineer.

If I made a bunch of inflammatory remarks saying that all new bridges are designed to fail and kill us all, and the SEs who designed them are a bunch of political stooges pushing a radical agenda because they want us dead to further their world domination plans, and by the way I'm a surveyor which is kinda like an engineer, and I did some survey work on bridges back in the 90s so you should totally believe me...

...I would probably garner a following based not on any actual knowledge (certainly none supported by structural engineers, who would rightly call me out as a charlatan), but on my craziness, bolstered by the (false) veneer of authority I am pretending to have by virtue of being in a profession that is vaguely related to the issue at hand.

Having a following does not indicate intelligence or enlightenment. It just mean someone is getting attention. Lots of truly brilliant people get zero attention because they are focused on their area of expertise rather than getting clicks or views. It doesn't make them less brilliant.

I'd trust ChatGPT's advice over Peterson's any day.
