I walk the dog through about 500 acres of woods near my home and I've accumulated a few pics of corners in the area.
This summer they drained one of the large lakes to access the gas line which runs through the middle of it. Me and Mika walked the protective sand bed and found some of TRANSCO's markers.
A remarkable amount of fresh water clams.
Then we swing our route onto one of the power line trails.
And here we find one of the drill casings set by Hercules Powder Company, a subsidiary of E.I. Du Pont de Nemours Company.
Entering the wood, we stroll past another. This one has a concrete monument about thirty feet away that I never quite understood.
As we leave the woods and head to the lake we pass "the pincushion".
Then we head out to another power line and find Du Ponts property marks.
This corner fell in a swamp, so they actually built a road to get the equipment and rail out there.
I had to use what was handy to add a sense of scale...
Next we find a nice traverse disk, but unfortunately its in the horse trail, so I don't project much longevity.
With the sun setting me and Meeks head back to the lakes.
Those sunset pics are wonderful.
Great post!
That was a beautiful story.
Thanks. I needed that.
I'll roll all above comments into one and second them all.
Sunsets can be beautiful,even breathtaking.
Rather fitting as we near sunset 2016 and wait for dawn 2017.
Thanks for posting

Are you sure this is Sayreville?
My daughter came to pick up Aiden, my oldest Grandson, the other day as the sun was setting. As I put him in his car seat, he made some comment about the sky and how pretty it was. I told him that the sky is God's canvas to paint on. His reply "In watercolors? Like Mommy?" No money could buy that moment.
Yup. Those ARE water colors.

One of my kids many years ago in a similar moment said, "God must have a BIG box of crayons."
