Does this device require two units, one at each end? Or will it work by itself to extend the range to a GPS receiver with bluetooth inside? In other words, can I just use one to extend the range from a PC to a Trimble R8 over the standard BT range of about 20 feet??ÿ

Two units paired will function as a serial cable replacement.?ÿ However, the SD1000 is a general-purpose BT radio with a serial interface, so it can be used to connect to another BT device.?ÿ I use a Parani wired to my data collector to communicate long-distance (up to 1200' or so) with my GeoMax robotic total station.?ÿ The robot has a GeoMax BT handle, and the communication is standard BT.
