I know that Trimbles S6 returns signals from the glass corrected to the center of the prism.

Does the 5600 series guns do the same?

I haven't tested this yet. I always sight the center of the glass when using the 5600. Thanks.

No, the 5600 tracks the diode above the RTM when in robotic mode. When manually sighting a prism with the 5600 you should point dead center like you would a non-robotic instrument.

When manually sighting with the 5600 series you sight the center of the glass. The autolock will sight slightly off center. The instrument knows the difference and accounts for it.

The 5600 only knows where the diode is; as far as the glass is concerned, the relationship is only as good as the calibration of the tracker. The 5600 does NOT see the return from the prism the way the S series instruments do. The S series instruments compensate the angles to the center of the prism, the 5600 does not have any awareness of the position or even existence of the glass.
