Hey everyone,
quick question : my 12 volt (12 amp) lead acid battery that's powering my Trimble R8S base station died on a saudi job. I was wondering if I could use a car battery (12 volt) to power my TDL450L radio and R8S instead or is it a bad idea? Do I need a power regulator between the battery and the radio? Thanks for your help!?ÿ it is quiet urgent!

Car battery is what I use on mine. ?ÿJust make sure all your ports on your survey style are good and got the right cables for going to the TDL and receiver to ensure youƒ??re getting data transfer and power.?ÿ

just make sure it's fused properly.

if not, a different type of physics will win.

good luck.

What's important about a battery is the correct voltage, at least enough current capacity (amps) for the device it is powering, and enough storage (amp-hours) to last through the job.

You probably have a 12-amp-hour battery, not a 12-amp battery.

Yes you can but a deep cycle marine battery works a little better and will have a longer lifetime before needing to be replaced. Optima Blue is a brand that has worked well for us.
