I recently found out that a co-worker has been removing the battery from his data collector before shutting down.?ÿ I know this isn't good for the device.?ÿ It's a Leica CS20 Captivate controller.?ÿ Does anyone have any documentation stating that this is not the way to shut down a data collector??ÿ I can voice my opinion, but some documented proof would be best.?ÿ Thanks!

Unless said co-worker owns the company you shouldn't need documentation to tell him not to abuse expensive equipment. If the two of you are on the same rung of the ladder, so to speak, bring it to the attention of your management.

Is there?ÿ a difference in data quality? Since most data collectors and?ÿreceivers will automatically close all files when power is lost?

I currently?ÿhave a Carlson data collector, in a?ÿWindows CE device. The battery latch is kind of sloppy, so in moving it around the batteries have occasionally fallen out while it was turned on. I have never seen a glitch when I reload, except that I am starting from scratch with Windows CE.?ÿ

Tell me why you know it is not good for the device?

This is from the manual for a Topcon Hiper V (Single battery Receiver).?ÿ I can not imagine why it is not the same for a single battery Leica.?ÿ The GR-5 series has two batteries, that are hot swappable.

Power off
