It's interesting that the latest issue of POB's front cover article is on a drywall contractor purchasing equipment to do their own layout. I'm glad layout is not my bread and butter.
Unfortunately, our trade magazines are just that. Magazines. My wife is a member of APNA (American Psychiatric Nurses Association) and receives a quarterly journal with her membership. I wish there were a reasonably priced journal for land surveyors available. Once all the renewals and state association dues are paid it is hard to justify more money. I would quite enjoy reading peer reviewed articles that weren't simply an avenue for advertising. I guess there is a reason they are free...

Well, I certainly can't call my latest project ( https://surveyorconnect.com/ ) a traditional magazine per se, but I am working on adding more authors (wanna be one?) to extend our quality of content. I hope to eventually have peer reviews and they wouldn't be biased by advertising dollars. I do understand where the industry magazines are coming from and I have no problem with them. In fact, I'd like to maintain a good relationship so we can all work together for the betterment of surveying. Anyway, we're off to a good start and I hope the trend continues. 🙂
