That is some rugged country and six days in January, back when it still snowed in Western Colorado, is faster that I would have ever expected. I am never really sure if those dates listed are actual days from start to finish though.
However I looked at the monument records in that Township and there has been a lot of recovery done in there since I was last there. Some if it looks very legitimate so maybe I misjudged the old guy.

KScott,
There has been quite a few corner records filed. Some legit and some bogus. It appears Mr. Treas started from the south Township line and went north until he hit the base of the South Shale Ridge, then went to the North Township line and stubbed stuff out going back down south. It is a fun area and I've hiked into areas few individuals have gone. Even found a cockpit canopy from an old A4 spitfire jet, appears the pilot ejected somewhere in the area. I had GPS coordinates and reported it to the Mesa County Sheriff. They confirmed the coordinates and said they were only going in there once!
