I saw that after I posted §7.18. probably should have scanned over the full thread before posting.
Going back and considering a regular section corner that is 1 mile south of the north twp line, the proportioning surveyor did it wrong by using a corner in the next twp and by not using a corner to the south.
I've never heard of a single and a half proportion, but if I had, I guess the example would have been something like what was done here. But then, the result of what was done here might be why there is no such thing as a single and a helf proportion.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't proportion just another method to 'adjust' my chain to the original surveyor's chain? I don't see jumping into another township surveyed with a different chain being correct.
