I believe the minimum was 5 surveys a day with a maximum of 2 hours allowed on any survey. You wouldn't last long there if you only did the minimum either. Licensed guys never set foot in the field. But they sure have a pretty finished product.

Jon, was working at a larger company and doing an ALTA/ACSM on an abandoned mall. Went out with the crew, unusual for a surveyor to actually get out on the job for that company, and kicked 70% of the pins one afternoon. Sent the crew back out the next day by themselves because I had meetings all day and told them to look for the remaining pins, tie out what they'd found and let me look at it. They did, said everything fit good and started to set the remaining pins. Got to looking at their data later in the day everything looked good and I had time so I thought I'd go out in the morning and help with the location of the physicals. Was having a good day until I walked up to a building corner, looked down and one of my pin caps was touching the previous surveyor's caps. When he'd surveyed the property, he was working for the same company I was currently. So there in a 0.10' circle, you had an aluminum and plastic cap from the same company. I sat my crew chief down, who had 20 yrs experience on me, and explained the facts of life to him. I didn't care if the cap was from another company we don't do that and why hadn't he located the old pin in the first place. He told me it was a 10' reference and didn't think it was that important. Decided right then that I was going to get out of the big company who didn't let surveyors be surveyors.
