When someone inserts information contained in private records into documents that are recorded into public records, how can that information be fact checked?
The notes I refer to are in my case from the DOT, and in the case of the other surveyor, all are welcome to do their own research in the archives.

How can any information on a historic document get fact checked? I suspect the same way non-recording (of surveys) states work. The deed's get recorded, based on an unrecorded survey, how can anyone fact check them. Take the evidence that can be ascertained and go.
I guess it shows how spoiled we can be in recording states.

When I see that, I would expect the surveyor to record the referenced document for all to see.
Without verification, it seems to me they are just saying it is that way because I say that it is.
