This was early in the storm and our job was to locate the foundation and a few hundred steel plates on the foundation and all those pillars. We had to tie into existing control and set a couple of benchmarks and horizontal points for the construction guys.
They paid extra to have us there during this, they had a guy working with us to clear snow, we had the 1 second instrument under a tent (thats not ours in the picture), and we had a long discussion (also in writing) about cost and tolerances/accuracy with the client.
It was a good three days money wise for me and my field crew deserves credit for stepping up and suffering through a blizzard, cold, and being two hours from home for a couple of nights. And for doing such a good job with quality control under these conditions. They both get a dinner at the local brewpub when that check comes in.

Seriously, your crew deserves and pat on the back (along with the steak supper).

I am sure you're guys would be very grateful for dinner and beer as a reward for their loyalty and hard work, but, in my opinion you would get more bang for your buck with them if you just peeled them off the equivalent of a night out on the town as a bonus to show your appreciation and let them decide what to do with it. I am not being critical because dinner and beer is more than a lot of guys get, just giving a different perspective.
Agreed from my perspective as well. I do appreciate a good dinner from time to time, but more often appreciate cold hard cash. Two reasons why for me: I have a some extra pounds that don't need adding to, and have bills to pay/ things to buy, perhaps a special present for myself.
My hats off to you and your crew. It's very difficult working in those conditions that the picture doesn't portray. It's even more difficult maintaining a level of accuracy that is required.
Noted. I take care of them pretty well whenever I can with bonuses and PW work!

Good to hear there are still bosses around who pay attention to such things and take note. The "good guys" seem to be getting harder and harder to find these days 🙂
