It seems that the folks down under have the right idea. As profesionals we need to let the public know what our profession curtails. We are professionals but most of the time we could use a little professional guideance. After 53 years I have seen our profession being taken over by computer technicans and the GIS industry. We had a national Organization that was the American voice for the surveying and mapping profession The American Congress of Surveying and Mapping yet when the States started requiring Continueing Education ACSM suffered in Membership and so did our profession by taking away our National voice. We were left with 50 fragmented groups with only a few hundred partispating where when ACSM was in its prime a professional surveyor could partisipate with 10,000 other surveyors from all over the US and the World.
Unless we again can come together like our Friends Downunder the surveying Profession will suffer.
