When I first started with DWR in 1993, I worked for a Party Chief who had worked on the Oroville Dam construction. He had several pill bottles full of gold nuggets that he had collected there. The bedrock under the dam footprint had been completely cleared of all overburden by a hydraulic process. During lunch, and any other chance they got, they scoured the exposed bedrock and picked nuggets out of the cracks with their pocket knives. Probably wouldn't be allowed now for whatever reasons. I haven't watched the video yet, but I would bet that little tidbit is not mentioned.
