Well our hiper plus is having problems tracking the glonass satellite's. We use it as a network Rover. The is no more firmware updates that I can find. The leap second could of done it in. Anyone else have an oldie experiencing problems?
We're considering the x91+ or the triumph 2 for replacement. Also may have some promark 2 if anyone is interested.
My 13 year old Hiper Lite was DOA on the first day at work after the new year. The service guy assured me that it had nothing to do with the leap second, but the coincidence is certainly strong.
I took delivery of a new pair of R8s's last Thursday.
My Hiper+ tracks them O.K., I think.
I'm rarely showing more than 2 or 3 at a time; but, I don't know how many I had before Jan. 1.
I had one day earlier in the year when I had zero Glonass in my solution, but the next day there were several. I didn't change any settings.
I have a set of Hiper Lite+s and haven't had any issues

I don't know much about the x91's
However, if I were in the market, I'd want the best.
How I'd determine what was best, is to set up a gauntlet.
15 to 20 points, in a woods thicket. 2 out in the open, to localize, or make into a low distortion projection.
Then, I'd test all the units of interest to me.
I'd pick the one that was most accurate, fastest, and gave the highest confidence.
Kind of my own "consumer report" method.
If any particular unit seemed extra fast, I'd run it through the gauntlet 2x. Especially I'd be looking for one that yielded a wrong answer.
That's what I think.
I think I know which ones would be best, but I don't know.
I'd want the best one.

I will get the guys to setup the HiperXTs after the rain ends to see if they are still working. Don't need them but will not give them up. We have had the X91+s for a little over a year. They work well.
Thanks for the responses. A little more detail: when using it on the network, in the Carlson software, the glonass SATs would have lines through them, they would come into the solution, then blink out. I did a side by side test with another unit. No issues with the other unit. The hiper had hrms vrms of .06ish. the other unit had .02ish.
The hiper plus is a little older than the hiper lite plus. There hasn't been a firmware update for the hiper plus since 2011.
