I went to a meeting with a hydrologist which I thought was going to cover a job I'm bidding. Get there and it's about something completely different. He didn't want to talk about the first job, but about something else entirely. He has a client that needs to place an intake in a lake.
And it needs to cross a property to his clients property so needs an easement. He starts talking about all the difficulties and I finally get my mind around where he is talking about and I realize that I surveyed the property almost 25 years ago and drawn the plats for the property; the difficult thing for me might be finding the info which may be archived in boxes in the garage.
Then trying to get on the old GPS data we did for a subdivision 5-10 years later. Trying to remember where everything is; I used to be so much better at that;-)
It took me a good ten minutes before I got my mind wrapped around where the project was and that I'd already surveyed it. Old age!!

But in the 11th minute when you started explaining details, did the hydrologist's eyes get BIG? Did he smile and open his checkbook? The hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geohydrogologist, and mere civil engineers think I am magic when I tell them about "my last survey" of their site.

He kinda blindsided me, I was working on a bid for a project about 10 miles west of this one and I'm looking at a little topo and a pipeline and a building, I'm thinking what is this. The difficult thing will be getting on the old design control, hope some is left and I can figure it all out.
But the requirement is to use the old NAD27 coordinate system and the design is still on those topos using the low water elevation for the intake. So it's NAD27 and NGVD29 for this project.
Just OPUS it and tell everybody how screwed up things are. 😉 ....Then send them a bill for twice as much as normal! That's a true professional eh 😛

I.... humbly resisted the powerful urge to post a joke about OPUS the minute MM posted this.... ( ok I had it half typed and then deleted it).
.
It saddens me deeply to see that you were not so able to rise above the temptation.....(sigh) all I can say is....

Oh yes, totally OPUS for this one, I now bow to OPUS every morning.|-)
This one has specific control requirements. I think there actually is some legislation about it. Anyway, they are very firm about what format they want, for good reason in this case.
Pablo, you've got to have better things this morning than to do than harass little old Moe.;-)
Waitin around for the word from the client...gonna move a mountain and use OPUS to blame er do it. 🙂

lol, yes that's the way to do it:-P
I get to travel the highway part way to you, and for the first time in I don't know how long have clear roads and no weather, I figure the snow melted and no ground blizzards if the wind picks up, so smooth sailing for once, I seen so many wrecks and slide offs this year that its got to be a record. B-)
