Have been watching many 1950's-era Westerns on TV lately. ?ÿThose of you familiar with those storylines will understand.
?ÿ
Yesterday we were surveying in what qualifies as rough country for these parts. ?ÿSuddenly, we heard a ker-tweet-tweet calling sharply through the brush. ?ÿI looked at my helper and cautioned him, "Careful, the Indians have found us." ?ÿWhen a slightly different tweet-ker-tweet called out a bit later, he said it before I did.
Watching Wagon Train right now, when thats over The Rifelman is on for 6 episodes, followed by the Wild Wild West.?ÿ ??ÿ

I'm watching the Lone Ranger on FETV right now.?ÿ Hie is trying to mediate between Indians and homesteaders.
Tomorrow evening I'll be watching Perry Mason.?ÿ I caught part of the episode, "The Case of the Roving River" last month.?ÿ The case revolves around an old survey and whether a line of that survey was a meander line or the property line.?ÿ The young lady accused of murder believes that she owns the land all the way to the river.
Judy Bryant is upset when she learns that a valuable tract of land she inherited has been claimed by a land developer as she has an offer of $250,000 for the same land. The original land survey was conducted some 15 years before by her step-father, Amos Bryant, who abandoned them soon after. The root of the problem is that the nearby river is far narrower today than it was at the time of the survey. Judy consults Perry Mason who tells her that Amos' testimony will be essential if she is to win her case against the developer. Paul Drake is able to locate Amos who doesn't remember her name and is a drunk. He agrees to testify in her favor but only if she pays him $10,000 as he claims to have debts he owes people who will hurt him if they learn where he is. When he collects the money however, the package explodes, killing him as others watch. Judy is charged with his murder and Perry defends her.

Seriously though, the only odd noises I hear are the occasional fart.....usually they are from me.
Been recording and watching old episodes of Kolchak The Night Stalker, that used to scare the heck out of me when I was young.?ÿ
I think if anything strange is going?ÿker-tweet ker tweet out in the woods, and I don't see a cardinal or chickadee, i'm going to kill it first, then find out what it was. ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ ? ?ÿ
Last few days in the field I been surrounded by things that grunt.?ÿ And tear up roads.?ÿ Some of them even tried to root up a GPS traverse point.?ÿ I'd much rather hear some birds tweeting than the hogs nearby.?ÿ?ÿ And if the birds turn out to be indians, I think thats probably still better than hogs.
Years ago I was backing into a stand of grass that was taller than me.?ÿ I was trying to keep the chain on a semi-straight line and carry 8' of range pole above my head.?ÿ The whole while I was trying to keep my eyes on the instrument man.?ÿ Those that remember can picture the drill.
Suddenly something invisible to me and near my feet began growling.?ÿ I had never heard such a sinister noise.?ÿ It involved growling and maybe burping or snarling.?ÿ It didn't take me long to figure out I couldn't back up any further.?ÿ After collecting my wits (and putting my chain and pin bucket on the ground) I carefully inspected the grass with the 8' range pole.
There in the grass was one very excited armadillo...a momma armadillo.?ÿ She had a nest all stomped out on the ground and had all her babies up under her.?ÿ She was not going to let me run her off.?ÿ Her vocals convinced me to give her a wide berth...
Damnedest noise I have ever heard in my life.
We were setting some aerial targets in a city park north of St. Louis about 15 years ago.?ÿ We didn't hear any strange noises, but there were certainly a strange site.
There was a Ford Explorer parked by itself in the parking lot.?ÿ Apparently there was some sort of miniature isolated earthquake, because that thing was rocking back and forth.?ÿ The heater also must have been malfunctioning because all the windows were fogged up.?ÿ We started to break out the windows to see if anyone needed rescuing but the phenomenon stopped before we got there.
