Today, I discovered the total station battery was deader than a doornail after arriving onsite more than 50 miles from the office.
Last Monday is when we completed the survey of the wrong lot.
In both cases, the only person to blame was me, myself and I.

Been there, done that, more than I like to admit... the battery one only though...
Tighten up
You are slipping Mr. Cow.... Tighten up.
Buy a power inverter and leave the battery in the truck to charge if you have to... But tighten that up$
Tighten up
I have both an inverter in the survey chariot and I also have one of those nifty little battery jump starters with a small inverter on it for those "in a pinch" moments. Not much to say about surveying the wrong lot, although I have staked a cluster of piling 180 degrees out!

I had a hell of a time getting my GPS to Localize today. 2+ hr drive each way. We finished, but took 11 hours, plus my 1 hr drive each way to the office from home made it 13 ( 2 unpaid of course). It was a silly setting error by me, but that's a Monday.
That's the life of a solo surveyor!
I have a dumb a$$ of the day award at my company. Guess who usually gets it! I have also fired myself too many times to count, but always have to hire myself back since there is no one else to take up the slack.
Sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying! I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that has days like that.
Today the garage door broke and settled at an inconvenient angle
While that was going on, or maybe before, the air conditioner shut down (90 degrees outside).
Before noon the mosquitoes were out in force.
But I was able to wrestle my new GPS receiver to the ground and get it to work on my terms.
Great Monday except for the mosquitoes as everything else was settled by 5pm.
Mondays...
are a helluva way to spend 1/7th. of your life..fer sure.
Blame all 3.
Me myself and I
I remember going to a job, a plot plan for an addition, we measured the house, and recovered bounds for the survey. Got a call from the office saying "it's house number 148, not 184 that I wrote on the notes." Chief said, it's a good thing we're not roofers.
Thank God...I did my Monday survey on Sunday so I could finish it on Monday.
