Nice profile of a Minnesota Surveyor
"In Caledonia, Tony negotiates the land between the two men, buyer and seller, while survey technician John Kanthack sets off to place iron pipe markers at property lines. John learned nearly everything he knows from Tony, he said.
A GPS unit guides John to the line. Staying within one inch of the coordinates, he pounds the iron pipe into the ground and marks its location with a wooden stake bearing a hot pink flag."
There is no mention of a search for existing corner monuments or deed research. It is a good article but probably was written by someone who likely has little knowledge about surveying.
