Looks like I will be sitting for this in April. Besides the resource info available on the Board website, any other resource info or suggestions please.
feel free to email me if you like- thanks guys and girls.
Of course this was in October 1996, but all I studied were the different handbooks available from the board.
Never got a score from them but would bet it was in excess of 90%. It was so close to the Arizona test I took 6 months earlier (scored 94 in 45 minutes) that I was out of there in 35 minutes on a "2 Hour" test.
Lookout for the mining laws questions.
SJ B-)
I am nowhere near New Mexico, but someone mentioned mining. I sat for the Kentucky State Specific exam on Friday. I felt prepared for the most part, but there were a few Mining questions that I was not prepared for. A few of them referenced items found in the Federal Mining Safety and Health Administration regulations. I was unfamiliar with them, so I made best guesses on those few questions.
Took the test in 2007, from what I remember there were several questions on the New Mexico State plane system, county and state road widths, recording laws, the BLM manual, land grants, and of course the NM minimum standards.
Good Luck
thanks guys
Robert Allen in my office is trying to sit for that test too. I will pass him your contact info.
please do Andy- I am not finding a whole lot on the web- printed everything from the Board website. thanks!
Good luck to ya ragoodwin. I know quite a few guys here in AZ that have their NM license, and have thought about it myself. Not sure I want to venture there though, even though I could.
The only hint I can provide is be current on anything and everything in the BLM Manual(s), and be sure of which year you are reading. Then take a road trip and attend the state surveyors society annual conference, where you will likely learn more than any book you read. The bonus is you get your face around, meet your peers, and learn things by asking questions. Then go take the test.
Have fun

Watch out for "Red or Green?" - it's a trick question 😀
