It is my understanding that besides the fact that the new FIRM maps are almost useless, FEMA is not longer selling paper maps.
What is the best way to get them printed?
I may just get the Index map printed and make firmettes as I need them.
I think to a large extent the quality of the maps depends on where you are. I know that the 2 counties that are my practice area have maps that are generally very good. A few trouble spots, but that's it.
As to paper copy, printing a Firmette for each job we do is the route we have taken. That gives us a dated copy that is supposedly the most up to date for the file.

Surprise, kind of like the old FIRM maps (useless that is). I'm pretty sure the FIRMettes 'tool' is what they envisioned as supplanting the old paper hard copies
I will still get, at least, the index page printed.
Download the "Firmette Desktop" software from the Firmette section of FEMA. Then, request your DFIRMS from the "community" (county, etc) in PNG format. Firmettes become quick and easy. The software will also upload and update all LOMA's and place them in a sidebar.
Hey TL,
Thanks for the tip!
