H Nate,
Bob LeMoine here, you may remember me from my Ashtech tech support days. We've met at some of the local state surveying conference over the years.
I've helped you out with you old Ashtech Locus L1-Only GPS receivers, various Ashtech GPS post processing software's. If I remember correctly, you may have owned and use some of the Ashtech PM2's, or ProMark2 L1-Only GPS receivers.
I recently joined Satlab Geosolutions US, I'm the Technical Sales + Support representative.
I know your a loyal Javad customer and user, but buying new GNSS equipment is a big expenditure, a big investment for a solo surveyor, business owner.
I would like to talk to you about our Satlab Geosolutions SL600 6G GNSS receivers. They are definitely worth looking at, they are designed in Sweden.
The majority of the Satlab employees are former Ashtech GPS people including myself.
The Satlab SL600 6G GNSS receiver is a 220-channel GNSS receiver that tracks L1/L2, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, QNSS and SBAS. Has both Internal GSM modem + 2-watt XDL UHF radio, 1 GB internal memory, Micro SDcard expansion slot for long static observation, Bluetooth and WiFi. Dual Hot-Swapable
Li-ion batteries. For static operations, the dual batteries provide 24-hour duration run-time, for RTK Rover with the XDL radio 18-hours run-time, for RTK Base with the XDL radio 15-hours run-time.
We designed and produce our own data controller, the SL55, we are partnered with Carlson Software on SurvCE.
I'd be more than happy to come to your location, show you the Satlab SL600's, let you field test them to see how well they perform.
The pricing of the Satlab Geosolutions SL600's are very resonable, median priced RTK Base + RTK Rover kits.

Nate,
I have 2 legant antennas I will never use again. Let me know if you want them as a backup or add to your spare parts.
Bob Lemoin above, I still have 4 Locus units. They are going on EBAY tomorrow.
Good to hear from you. I think that the Javad products represent the bleeding edge of surveying equipment. It will take me a bit to learn how to get it going, the way I work. I think it will work for me.
Lee Green, yes, I'd love those leg ants. my email is mcls at windstream DAUGHT net. I think that is what is giving me trouble.
I didn't buy dual fequency rtk right off because I didn't think I could afford it, used single frequency receivers for several years. Although it was good training to get me ready for rtk, I should have bought into dual freq rtk a lot sooner. It made money.
I've also got some hiper lites + that are eol according to manufacture. Maybe I should get something newer, like Javad.
JT, I did the same thing. Had a cluster of 6 Locus units at one time. You can get alot of work done with 6 Static units, and a 4-wheeler! Learned alot. Learned to clean the GPS data, and learned to scale stuff to ground, and learned alot about projections.
Then, I bought a Legacy E system, and have used it for the last 10 yrs. I need new antennaes for it. Looks like Lee has some, and I hope the get them. This will make my old system work again.
JT, I learned to survey with TRANSIT and TAPE, in the 1970's and 1980's. Got our first EDM about 1986. My Gawd, that was easier. Then, Total Station, (Topcon GTS 3c) That was great!! Then, Locus GPS. WOW! Then, RTK. Just like this NEXT generation does not know how to traverse, with transit and tape, but know all about computers, we (read: Me, the 50 yr old) are still getting caught up with technology. This is an old dual processor computer, with Microsoft XP!! After I get going with my Javad unit, do you want some training?

I suspect Tommy has a stash of Confederate currency; you know...just in case the South rises again 😀
It's ordered... I'm as excited as a 5 yr old, getting a new bike!

Mate, Yer gonna sh*t yer pants when you try the 5 hurts!;-)
Adam, I got a "new" antenna from Lee Green. Changed some wires, and now my old Legacy E has new life.
I would not have jumped in the Javad buy it now cart, if it were not for the "Beast Mode".
I have a feeling, it will be a no-brainer, (to buy it) after I get sorted all out.
Nate
Nate, Be sure to keep us posted when you get your new Javad GNSS gear, let us know how it goes...

sure will!

Javad LS, with Triumph 2 at base, with 35 watt radio.
Nate I'm not sure if anyone helped you with your order or not. If not, did you order a fan for the radio? At 5 Hz it only needs to be outputting about 4 watts before it starts to get hot. Also you will need a ground plane disk if you want to get the most range from the radio.
Matt, I got the LS, and the fan, and the T2
I skipped the "fan kit" I can wire that with no problem. I got the pigtail, with barrel connector for it.
We are now discussing how to re rig my base. My current config puts the radio too close to the base.

Which radio do you all recommend? There are so many options on the website?
I got this radio: HPT435BT 35 Watt. It is adjustable. There is 2 way coms from base to rover, and rover to base. You can change channels from the LS, while you are 2 miles away. I THINK you can also change power levels from the ROVER. I certainly hope so. Maybe somebody who knows can chime in.
I also got the cooling fan. I did not get the cooling fan kit. If you are not familiar with the RTK game, you should get the kit. I just got a fan, and the wire, with barrel connector. The ls comes with alot of stuff, that is handy. Monopod, and bag, and basically all you need to get off and running. I would not trust that the monopod bubbles are set correctly..... 🙂
If you have good cell coverage, or an RTN network, there are other options, for you. I don't have that here. So, MORE POWER grunt grunt!

Configuration communication from the rover to both the base and the radio is accomplished via Bluetooth, so the range is limited to more like 100 feet. (Maybe some day...)
Jim, hmmm what setup do you have? One handed typing, with baby on other hand...

The same as you, minus the radio fan kit: Triumph-LS, Triumph-2, HPT435BT. (Though I plan to add a homebrew fan kit so I can play with correction rates greater than 1Hz.)
