AVOID!!!
Do not purchase the Leica Smart woks software!! It is horrible,,, I would recommend running Carlson's SurveCe. If you do feel the need to purchase a Leica Data collector.

Not to change to topic, but what have you found wrong with Smartworks. We have found it far exceeds anything Carlson has to offer if used in the right hands.

My guess is that option is going the way of the Dodo now that Leica's parent company has acquired Microsurvey.

From what I've heard Leica has always held back some proprietary information from second party software developers, but now Microsurvey has the keys (code) to the castle.

OK now I am on the hotseat.
As suspected my first task (after getting thrown to the wolves on a design build project in progress) is to obtain the new equipment.

What I have now;
Topcon 602 total station
ag-3 level and fiberglass rod
husky data collector
one tripod
one stake-out rod
about 100 bundles of stakes and 50 bundles lath
25 bushel size bags of blue-top hubs and whiskers

I threw those last two items in the mix so you would have an idea what I will be doing.

Since I can't seem to reach Boundary Lines on all that neat stuff he has for sale I have put in demo-sales requests to three separate vendors. I told all of them what I had (the Husky) and that I would prefer the new equipment be compatible with it.

OOPS, I'm sorry, it's not a husky it is a TDS Ranger. It has Survey pro Ver. 4.7. Sorry for confusing the issue.

LOL, just cleaned the construction site off the gun and it's a 605 not 602. Man, this stuff was dirty. Next I'll go set up a preliminary peg line to see if it close to calibration.

What would make the level go dark and really hard to find focus?

What is a lens cap? o.O I don't think this level has seen a lens cap since it was new. It is in pretty poor shape cosmetically, appears to have been dropped once or twice and the mirror for the bubble is missing. I pegged it on a 200' line before using it on the site and surprisingly it was within .01' I'll wash all the grunge off it, then maybe I can turn the motions a little easier. The missing sunshade might be what I need for the darkness issue. Now that i think about it I was looking in the general direction of the sun when I had the most problems.
