Okay, so what I'm reading is that you just "paper over" any random errors and report the job as completed according to spec? Or is it that the longer occupations tend to cancel these random errors resulting in a cleaner-appearing solution?

First off I stopped by my local bank (free donuts on Saturdays) and had to wait longer than I wanted because all the tellers' printers weren't behaving. After that I ran into a signal light that went to "red recall" and was flashing red in all directions. Stopped by the super market and was held up in line at the cashier because the credit card reader wasn't working right. Finally made it home without seeing Michael Douglas with a duffle-bag full of weapons.

Just had thoughts about how almost every aspect of our lives is tied to some foul-evil digital mess somewhere. Nobody thinks about it when everything works, but it's crazy when it all comes crashing down.

Was just thinking I may need a weekend off the grid in the woods out at the Cash Family Enclave for mental health reasons. I hope I remember to take the Sears Roebuck catalogue with me....

Where you been these days? Last I remember was maybe Guernsey?

Gimme a holler sometime, the numbers haven't changed one digit.

One of my favorite things to do: at the checkout, when the total is, say, $17.38, hand the cashier a twenty and AFTER they've entered "cash tended -$20", dip in my pocket and hand them a quarter, dime and nickel. Nobody, even 40-somethings, can count back change any more. We've taught all the offspring to do it since about the fourth grade. Now their offspring are learning from them.

Nobody plans anything anymore. Everything comes down to "Call me when you're ready to go."
