I just bought a new Topcon Hiper VR base and Rover with the FC-5000 data collector that has topcon Pocket 3d. When I localize on a construction site I create a file that ends in.GC3 ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ I also run some older carlson software in some of my construction equipment that requires a localization file that ends in .DAT ?ÿ ?ÿ I am hoping to only setup once with the Topcon Equipment and use some type of file conversion to create the carlson file. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this? I really don't want to have to localize on the site twice. ?ÿThanks in Advance .

Not knowing the specifics of the "older carlson software" (e.g. product and version) you are running, you can explore the following if you happen to be some of our desktop CAD products (e.g. Carlson Construction):

Settings ƒ?? Drawing Setup ƒ?? [Set the Projection to a reasonable value] ƒ?? Define Localization button:

Within the Define Localization dialog box, click Load as illustrated by the Arrow below:

Navigate to the folder location where your *.gc3 file has been placed and open the file if the File Selector dialog box indicates it understands the *.gc3 format as illustrated below (the following was captured with Carlson 2020):

Once loaded, use the Save but to save the localization to the requested *.dat format. You might even explore the Optimize button (illustrated by the rectangle below):

I hope this information helps.

If that doesn't work, Topcon also has tools to convert the gc3 to the carlson format.
