I'm partial to Petzl headlamps. Dark as all get out in Alaska this time of year. Have several of varying candle power. Good idea I stumbled on is clipping one of those little battery powered LED bike flashers to the back of the band so it's riding on the back of your head for if and when your around traffic in the dark drivers can see you when you're turned away from them.

Some people call it a day as the sun is setting. They don't need such paraphernalia.

We used Petzl in the military, and I still have one today that I had in Afghanistan in 2010. The only other brand I would consider for lights is surefire, but I'm not entirely certain whether or not they offer headlamps these days. The lights they (surefire) make for mounting on personal defense weapons and rifles are golden though.

I have LED Lenser lights and they are brilliant. Pun or no pun!
I thought they were expensive so bought a $25 headlamp for constant life in the work ute.
But I'm sure LED is far better and one attribute is the way it sits on the head and can be taken off and put on one handed which the cheap one doesn't.
The cheaper one doesn't have a nice even smooth beam spread either.
But I am happy with it for the price it's very good.
You get what you pay for.
Good LED's punch out a lot of light.

I have bought a lot of LED Lenser lights as gifts. Everyone loves them. I have three of their P3 BM lights, one permanently fixed to my sleeping bag, one is in my pocket every day, and another in my night stand. My wife has one in her night stand, and all my brothers or BIL's have them. For the price you cannot beat these little lights, if you are looking for a compact. And it only takes one AAA.

PS I am no way financially tied to LED Lenser (or Leatherman). Well other than I seem to give them lots of my cash in return for their products.

Nearly all LED's put out a lot of light.

I bought a 600 lumen flash light at Walmart for $35. It takes six AA batteries, which is kind of spendy.

It beats the old mag lights hands down for light output and battery life. I tested the light and left it on high power. It lasted several days before it finally went completely dead.

We finally have access to those super bright flash lights that they been using in the movie's for decades!

How the heck do you feed the animals after work without a headlamp?

They come looking for me if they aren't happy. I'll find them in the morning.

My kid's great grandpa used to feed the cows out of an old bay window VW bus that had barn doors.

One of my older friends is a VW mechanic and said that he hated working on that bus because the bottom side was always covered in a thick cake of...you know what. The inside was packed with half dried layers of mud and hay.

He said had had to pressure wash it every time.

Nobody at the ranch now would have the patience to mess around with a VW. The old Ford trucks are bad enough.

Thanks Natester (I think). Got the Boruit headlamp yesterday, let it charge all night, adjusted straps, yanked it over my head, turned that sucker on and damned near blinded myself while looking in the mirror. After some adjustments to fine tune the fit I showed it to SWMBO. She liked it too and tried it on. This thing is great!

Now the (I think) part.
SWMBO while wearing the Bourit started seeing things that need attention. Just simple things I NEED to do. For example, ‰ÛÏOMG look at all this dust, you have to clean this‰Û, ‰ÛÏOMG, look at all the stuff under the refrigerator, you have to clean this‰Û etc. etc. etc‰Û?

So after she let me play with the headlamp I walked into the garage with them on and called for her to come and see this!!!! ‰ÛÏSee what‰Û, she said. I replied, ‰ÛÏI‰Ûªve never seen so many cockroaches in my life‰Û
She didn‰Ûªt think that was amusing in the least, tomorrow I will be dusting, and vacuuming for quite some time. 😉

Thanks, I think, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family!

Ever since I participated in this discussion, I have suddenly begun getting SPAM regarding LED flashlights...coincidence?
