I found this Union Schenkl artillery shell while looking for property corners in the right of way a few years back. Was found in rural Virginia. Anyone else find anything interesting?
The engineering firm for whom I worked was originally located in an antebellum "mansion" in Marietta, Ga.?ÿ Most of Marietta was destroyed or housing requisitioned during the War Between the Sates.?ÿ The basement for this old home was just earth walls.?ÿ While moving around some old materials an unexploded cannon ball was found.?ÿ The Police retrieved it and we were told that, even a 100 years old, it could still be "live".?ÿ In and around the north and west of Atlanta it's not terribly unusual to find relics, but you'll get your butt arrested if you go looking in one of the National Battlefield Parks.
Similar....West Point's Flag Officers quarters are located in the old test range.?ÿ We found and Bipped several items there in 2011-12. Bunch of Lite Clns were always stirring up the rest of the?ÿ crowd...probably why they are never going to make full bird because of their attitudes IMHO
Still active, one was found in the morning and before the day was over with and before we even had a chance to report it to anyone,?ÿ police sirens and cop cars converged on the site and the crew picked up and came back to the office. The other one we reported to the company we were working with. That got messy I think, but I didn't hear what happened with either of them.?ÿ?ÿ
