I am running a bit older instruments in a couple of topcon gts3 instruments but we bought gps and upgraded our data collectors last year. That means the mesa has to be used with a cord attached to the instrument.

This handshake hss never been smooth and we have been completely frustrated lately. I am hoping a new cord might help some as well as updating to the latest firmware.

Has anyone else had these issues? If so did you find any solutions?

What are you using for a data collector, and what software version are you running?

Make certain you have settings correct for Topcon GTS and baud in the Tesla. I would suggest either get a Bluetooth to 9 pin adapter like Parani, or upgrade instrument. With long range Bluetooth the Data Collector can be at the pole, which means less communication needed back to Iman, Such as rod height changes and offsets.

I am running two sokkia mesas running magnet on two topcon gts3 b instruments. Obviously I would love to have enough money to buy new instruments. ..but I just bought gps and data collectors and a vehicle. ..I ve only been in business a coulpe of years and I need this setup to work til I get the gps paid for.

The instruments work fine, there's nothing wrong with them.

These instruments should work fine. I am assuming you are probably running Carlson on these? If so, make sure that your baud/parity are set to default and match between the instrument and the data collector.
