I've run a Leica TCRA1102plus for the last 4 years over a Parani BT connection. I use a baud rate of 19200 because that's as high as the Leica goes, and it seems to work fine. But the Leica is over 10 years old, no longer supported by the manufacturer, and has started to misbehave on occasion, so I recently bought a GeoMax Zoom80 with a BT handle. The SurvCE manual says to run the GeoMax at 115200. I'm wondering if the additional speed is really needed, and if trying to maintain it will decrease range.
Anyone have experience with this?
I may be wrong. Been wrong before, but I think that the actual radio transmission between Bluetooth devices is always at a baud rate of 115200. The selectable baud rate is for the serial interface between the device and the Bluetooth adapter. So you'd go from the Leica instrument to the Bluetooth adapter over serial at 19200. Then from the Bluetooth adapter to the Bluetooth adapter, it's transmitting at 115200. Then from the Bluetooth adapter to the data collector it's back to 19200 again.
John Evers would probably have a more knowledgeable answer for you.
Shawn,
You nailed it!
It sounds like I'm good to go at 15200 from end-to-end. Thanks!
