I have an old program Softdesk 8 running in AutoCad 14. Works great for the small projects I'm working on. Lately I had an error message opening up Softdesk so I re-installed the software. There was a question regarding creating a new profile or overwrite the existing. I chose overwrite. When I started Softdesk I lost all my project files. Help. How can I retrieve them?

Most likely the software just "forgot" where it put them. Search your hard drive for dwg files or any other file type that you know would be with the project files. Once you figure out where they are I believe you'll be able to configure the project path in Softdesk so that it knows where to find them.

Thanks Stephan,

I used search *.dwg & found the files (5000 of them). I will now make a habit to back them up regularly.
