I just bought one. Should be here next week some time.
Anyone else using one? Is it good. Good closures?
I probably should have asked about how good/bad they are before the purchase.
Figured it was time to upgrade from my Leica TCR305. It closes a good loop and I have had very few problems with it breaking down. That's one reason I went with Leica again they are very durable. I still have to replace my other Leica but that will be in a few months as long as work keeps coming in.
John-I am a Leica dealer but tend to opt to my service experience to form most of my opinions....
The TS06 is the workhorse of the Flexline series. We see very few issues with these (which we shouldn't). I recommend making sure that you use the professional tribrach, not the basic (Professional - GDF321) and the larger batteries (GDF321). You'll find that the instrument works well no matter what software you are using...if Survey Pro though make sure to test your prism offsets (it doesn't work the same way Leica or Carlson software works). As for closures....I also sell a variety of other brands and customers are also commenting on how the TS06 holds its accuracy better than other models they have purchased beforehand.
Best of luck to you. You made an excellent choice.
One thing that really bothers me about Leica TS's is their planned obsolescence. Apparently 10 years after the last sale they no longer supply parts. I have 3 instruments that have failed or failing displays. Otherwise excellent instruments are worthless. If I buy a TS06 now, how long will it be useful? In spite of my age (66) I still think that is relevant
