I am currently using a LEICA TS15i. First impression is great hardware as I expected due to using Leica equipment for the last 10 yrs. Software on the other hand seems to be very powerful but after using TDS data collection for the past decade there is a couple things I'm having trouble accepting. #1 the ability to double aka rep/set to other critical pts other then traverse pts. From what I understand to do a bs/fs/fsII/bsII routine the only way to do that is in the traverse app. and if u diverge from your main trav. loop you need to create another trav. loop. The dealer told me that the function 2face option was the thing to do meaning only a fs face 1/2 measurement were to be made and then averaged. Ok maybe I just have to get used to the new way of doing things but there is no way to set a tolerance for that. dist. or angle.. WHAAAAT:pissed:
Check out this [msg=183644]thread[/msg]. I'm not a leica user but I believe you'll find some helpful info there.
Sets of Angle is the way to go if you don't care about adjusting your traverse on the instrument. You can turn as many angle as you want to as many points as you in what ever order you want. Well worth the couple of hundred extra.
Thanks for the input I've stayed away from the sets of angles app because it seemed to be geared toward monitoring. Just fired up the ts15i to do a little inside testing... didn't get far, I should have known my free trial period is up and no lic. key. Just half to laugh at this point. Thank you anyhow.
I'm not sure were people get that 'Sets of Angles' is for monitoring although you can save sets and re-visit them without re-pointing. What it is really for is networking in my opinion. I've been using Leica robotics since the beginning starting with the 1800 series and have found set to be the most useful program on the gun.
I think people are getting that sets of angles is for monitoring because the Tech. Ref. manual (the instructions) on sets of angles is mostly referring to monitoring.
I personally was told that straight from the dealer. I also assumed that buying the lic. key for traverse, measure to ref line, and stakeout would have covered all my bases in order to accomplish the everyday routines of land surveying.
I really think Leica made a mistake in the way they have geared all of this to work and hopefully we'll see some software updated once they get more complaints about it and they realize that it's going to affect there sales in the U.S.
