My 1100 was the 3rd one in Indiana in 1998. My friend's was either the 1st or 2nd. Cool Huh? Any way mine is running great. He is trying to get his back into operation. Here are his symptoms:
When I turn the gun on I get nothing, just a black line as it powers the screen and then blank, then the only way to power it off is to take the battery out, it acts like it doesn't have the main system menu file to load at start up.
I think I remember loading a sysA.tps file on the card a long time ago.... and I don't have it to put on the card..... my problem is I haven't seen this gun since sometime in 2008, and I hadn't messed with the pc card since sometime in 2004
I just sent him copies of the contents of the PCMCIA card.
What are your suggestions to help him get this back up and running again?
Thanks, Brad
I don't know this for a fact, but it sounds like the onboard battery to maintain memory may have died. Hence all the internal memories are wiped. I know that is a big deal on the Wild 1000/2000/3000 series instruments.
As it so happens as I type...
The Adelaide Leica man is sitting next to me trying to fathom out Liscad and Nova's new scanning module when I crossed over to to SC and saw the 1100 Q . Trevor said to contact nearest Leica dealer service centre, as internal battery has gone FLAT . They will replace and recalibrate all constants? Sometimes the process cannot be restored so they become a useless piece of technological furniture.
Memo to every one else...when you get the error message to call service centre, obey or else it may be good night Irene...

Leica TCA 1100 trouble ~ update
update from my friend:
I called and left a message with the Leica guy that you sent his contact information to me. And I called a Leica repair center in Chicago. The guy in Chicago was rude, but he basically told me that you can't change the battery, you have to change the whole main board, and that I am basically up $%&t creek. What really sucks is that we just bought the darn thing back and it hasn't worked since we got it.......
Leica TCA 1100 ~ 3.5 floppy disk data needed
Now we need the files from the 3.5" floppy disk 3 of 4 labeled TPS Workbench which hopefully contains the following possibly hidden or system files: "setup.ins" and/or "install.ins".
Of course I am able to copy all the files from all the other 5 of 6 disks. But this one says it is not formatted (in windows), or it gives a "cyclic redundancy check" error message at the DOS prompt.
So (1) if anyone has these files from this disk, please send them. This is my first choice of course.
Or (2) what advice do you have to try to access the files on the disk that I do have?
Which by the way, (2a) I need to find either a 3.5" floppy reader on-line or a replacement power supply for my 1998 Gateway laptop.

Hopefully someone has a copy of that disk and can get you the files you need.
A few years ago my floppy #10 (of 14) install disk for microstation 4.0 crapped out and I got the same messages. As any doting father would I tried to rush little number 10 to the ER...
Long story short I spent some good money to find out I had bad disc with little salvageable data. MS 4.0 RIP.
Good luck, I bet someone has the files.

It won't fix the bad disk, but if you're able to get the info make a point to copy all of the disks to a CD or create a folder on your data archive. It's been a few years since I've done this but I believe each disk has to go in a separate folder and sometimes you have to name the folder the same as the original disk. May take a bit of tinkering but I've been able to install multi-disk programs from CD or harddrive this way long after the floppies died.

Yeah, ten four brother. I did this many years ago with these disks, BUT we think that I did NOT get the possibly hidden files on disk 3 (Workbench) of 4: "setup.ins" and/or "install.ins".
Hoping that someone here will see this and send copies of their files.
I also sent a direct e-mail to our friend RA from DU.
Holding our breath.....

Monday morning bump, TTT. Somebody out there in the world wide interweb must have these files.
Hi Brad,
I'm new to the forum. Any luck with the files?

Thanks for checking in. I think that my friend sent his robot in to Earl Dudley and $1,500 later it is up and running. Not sure about the files though...
