FIRST OFF; GREAT SITE?ÿ and good info. been reading post for years and i think this is only my second.

?ÿ

am at a new job, new place uses trimble access, and i remember in my previous jobs when we used the Leica stake to reference line. perfect gnss app to do many acres cross sections for contour in a single day with good, reliable, consistent shots and ability to successfully cover entire area requested by office, (even though cad guy would add more area or confused the field guys ?!!?)

Question; What is the equivalent app or procedure for same uniform cross-sections topo in Trimble ?,

?ÿ

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLY !!!

keep up the great work, and spread the facts for better professionalism for all

You can tap on a line in Access and either offset it (multiple times if you want), or stake to it with a defined offset for each gridline.

To create that line, you might want to use observed points, or you can just tap on the map and key in manually.

Sometimes I actually stake it out, other times I just pace out the grid distance and then move to where my rod is close to the line itself.

Just be careful when in stakeout mode, because when you store a stake point, they have different properties than topo observations. It's not a problem if you're post processing and running QA/QC, but it can be if all you're doing is kicking out a CSV directly from the controller.

(Edit to clarify: there's no additional app to purchase or install, the ability to create and stake to lines is already there.)

You also can do a continuous topo by distance and if on fairly smooth terrain just place that wheel on the bottom and start walking lol. At least you could with survey controller version i have not tried that i. Access yet.?ÿ

@350rocketmike yeah it use to be a stop n go method time and distance or time or distance. Or just time etc. when the S6 came out i mean first came out. I was still working for a Trimble distributor. Well I set a guy up with a redneck master piece a made that attached a rod to the hitch on a 4 wheeler and a brace to the tool rack. I basically took a piece of 5/8 allthread and a rod not survey rod and a old ball and the guy got the height and did continuous topo on a big 200 acres of old sod farm being converted to a subdivision. One of those things you make over a few beers on a Friday night. Anyway he was like 22 years old and into remote control trucks and cars. The high dollar ones back the. Ran on fuel. He made a little adapter for that first 360 prism with the grey sensor on it so it was about a foot high. He called me one dY and asked me to come to a site not to far away. I said sure. He was doing an ALTA and Topo on a mall. He was doing continuous topo with the s6 robot covering the asphalt lol. It worked. He just drive that car around taking spot elevation shots. He of course had to go back and shoot curb islands and such and parking stripes but he had the parking lot covered.

That sounds really fun. I used to be into RC cars as a kid. Always wished I could afford a gas powered one.?ÿ
