Hello All...

So we are still having trouble with the whole Leica Captivate thing... Differing readings between data collector and instrument...not being able to view raw data and not being able to select the data we want to see on the user pages... so we are attempting to find out if anyone else has had success using other programs on the CS20 and the TS16...or any other data collectors and which programs with the TS16.... any help would be appreciated.

?ÿ

Thanks

With these new digital instruments having computerized correcting compensation, it is not uncommon for the data on the screen to differ from what values output to raw data.

I do understand that.?ÿ Yet with both the instrument and the data collector with the same settings, we get varying display readings in the angle and distance.?ÿ The RAW we cant even view till the crew gets into the office

That is odd.?ÿ With that version of software and hardware the onboard gun software is the same as the controller software so it shouldn't be a computerized correcting problem.?ÿ You're sure the settings are the same on the gun as they are on the controller??ÿ You could confirm this is the case by exporting the working style from the controller and loading it on the gun and remeasuring.?ÿ You would be 100% the settings are all the same on both then.?ÿ What's the magnitude of the differences you're seeing?

yes..both setting are the same...I think that captivate on the controller is busy calculating the reading...IE slope distance vs horizontal distance... Alos the angles only read correctly on the gun.?ÿ it seems as though the data collector is somewhat stuck on azimuths.?ÿ All these issues have been reported to Leica electronically, physically at the ACAD Expo in Las Vegas, and through our tech rep / sales man.. an answer to your question is up to .06 to .09 feet in certain instances... we are tired of trying to make LEICA work for us...we are looking for an alternative.

Shoot, if you're to the point where you want to try and integrate a 3rd party software into such new equipment I would sell it all and go with a different manufacturer.?ÿ

Carlson has always played nice with Leica in the past but I have no idea if it will drive the new stuff like the TS16/CS20.?ÿ I would feel?ÿlike I wasn't getting the full benefit of the current tech going a 3rd party route on the software.

Have you tried using a different combination of TS/CS??ÿ Your dealer should have a demo TS16 and CS20.?ÿ Can you recreate the problem using his CS20 with your TS16 or his TS16 with your CS20??ÿ You might be able to prove one or both pieces of equipment should be replaced under the warranty.?ÿ

good point Mr Watson... I enfact did create two of the 12 issues with his demo version of both the CS20 and TS16... especially with regards to turning angles in Face 1 versus Face 2... Any of you TS16/CS20 users out there give this a whirl...?ÿ Setup your instrument and backsight anything either points or Azimuth, with the exception of 0 or north... turn and measure a set of angles using BS1FS1-FS2BS2...?ÿ when the first turn from backsight to foresight...record the angle... then let it auto turn in F2 to the FS...see anything wrong with the angle display between your instrument and your data collector...?ÿ Even things as simple as this seem to CAPTIVATE the Leica folks... yes PUNN intended

I can try it on one of my MS60's the next time it's back in the office, see if it does the same thing.?ÿ Are you saying that you're comparing the displayed values from the TS screen to the CS screen while the gun is being controlled remotely??ÿ My guess is the Leica Rep answer to that is "don't do that" LOL.?ÿ While the TS is being controlled remotely I bet the screen on the gun isn't updating fully?ÿand they don't care about the glitch because?ÿthey don't expect someone to be standing at the instrument watching the numbers if they're running robotically.?ÿ Just a guess.

That is correct...Im also saying that in F2 the horizontal angle switches on the gun, but doesn't on the data collector..IE the data collector does not recognize that it is in F2
