I'm trying to figure out a creative way to use the Leica ATX 1230 antenna that came with our Smart Station.
The ideal would be to put the ATX 1230 on a pole and have it talk to the receiver inside the Smart Station via bluetooth. Carry the TPS in the backpack, have the antenna on the pole, all good.
Unfortunately the firmware in the Smart Stationdoes not seem to provide for this. It wants the ATX1230 on the handle mount and does not accept antenna data via bluetooth.
It will accept RTK corrections on the bluetooth, but doesn't know how to get raw data from the antenna via bluetooth.
Question: is there any PC software out there that emulates a dual frequency receiver, that I can use to log data from the ATX1230 ?
Question: is the ATX1230 just an antenna or also a receiver? I see that Leica has other gadgets (mobilematrix, other stuff?) that will accept a signal from an ATX1230.
Seems like I might be able to do this if I upgrade from an RX1220 controller to an RX1250 controller. Just wondering if there is a way to do it with a $100 cable rather than a $5000 upgrade. Any ideas?
Turns out that Leica has a PC program, a GPS1200 simulator, and IF YOU BUY THE DONGLE you can receive data from the ATX1230 via bluetooth, and similarly receive RTK corrections via a bluetooth-enabled cellphone.
Wonder how much that dongle is, and if it is cheaper than a new RX1250...
I know that Earl Dudley had a used/demo RX1250 for $2350 a few months ago. Might be worth checking into.
